I have a background in mental health counselling, psychiatric rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, and employment counselling, but my areas of specialization are anger and stress solutions, bullying, and MVA recovery. If you have experienced bullying as a student or an adult worker, are struggling with "negative" emotions like anger and stress/anxiety, or are trying to come to terms with physical, social, emotional, and cognitive changes after a motor vehicle accident, our practice is here to support you through your healing process.
I am passionate about personal development and empowerment. I can help if you have a concern about: depression, anxiety disorders, stress management, grief (after divorce, death, or immigration), personal development, goals, low motivation, eating disorders, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and so forth. My knowledge combined with my personal and leadership skills, helps people challenge to reach a renewed sense of purpose and achievement.
I believe that people can change their lives for the better, and my goal as a therapist is to help you meet your personal goals. My background includes the study of the brain and behaviour, with a focus on the effect of sleep loss on emotions. I have experience using psychotherapy and biofeedback to assist people in coping with a variety of difficulties, including recovery from accidents or injuries, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, chronic pain, depression, and insomnia. Life presents many challenges and we are here to help you when you need support.
It is my passion to rehabilitate people. I actively work with my clients to cultivate trust and resilience. I value using a holistic, trauma-informed and individualized approach that employs evidence-based interventions (including CBT and DBT). My approach is honest, direct and psychoeducational in nature. I offer an unbiased perspective that is integrative and collaborative. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment to work together. I have a warm, authentic disposition and genuine interest in helping others find and maintain wellness.
Clinical Office Manager
I am the Clinical Office Manager for the practice, so if you ever need to make an appointment, I'll most likely be the one answering your call. In addition to herding the cats at Spa for the Soul, I perform psychometry services for our group practitioners. I am in the office every Monday and Wednesday.
We are excited to have a student intern joining us from Martin Luther University College, Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Kathryn is eager to learn and to begin applying her skills as a therapist. She will be available until April 2020 to provide low-cost and pro-bono counselling to anyone with special circumstances that prevent them from utilizing counselling services at the market fee.
Kathryn has worked with adults, youth, and people at risk. She works in the office every Monday and Tuesday.
